We are halfway through our narrative unit of study.  This week we have been learning how to bring life to our stories.  Some of the ways we can bring life to our stories are telling the story in itsy bitsy steps, making our characters move and talk, adding feelings to our stories, and acting out our stories before writing them.

This week we have spent our time during writers workshop taking assessments of our writing skills in three types of writing,  narrative, informational and opinion.

We will begin our first Unit of Study September 9.  We will begin with a unit about writing small moments.  Students will learn how to plan to write true small moments that they have experienced.  They will be learning to plan, draft, revise and edit.  This unit will take approximately six weeks.
