January 6, 2015 This week we are busy reviewing length vocabulary, learning to measure with non-standard units, and to line items up at the starting line to best compare lengths.
December 7, 2015
This week we will begin using different strategies to add 1- and 2- digit numbers. We will use number bonds, counting on and counting back, and sums of 10.
November 16, 2015
We just began a short chapter about ordinal numbers and position words. Students have been learning to find first, second, third, etc. from both the left and the right sides. We are also reviewing position words such as next to, above, below, under, behind, last, etc.

We are currently learning about plane and solid shapes. Plane shapes are circles, rectangles, squares, and triangles. Did you know that a square is a special type of rectangle?
Solid shapes include rectangular prism, sphere, pyramid, cube, and cone. Be on the look out for these shapes in your house!

Chapter 4:
Wow! Time is certainly flying by! We have successfully completed the first three chapters of Math in Focus. We began Chapter 4 today! This chapter will introduce different strategies used to subtract numbers. Students will be shown how to count back, take away, and use number bonds to subtract.
